Seawolf women outrun Angels

ANCHORAGE (Nov. 26) - Tanya Nizich led a parade of career-high scoring efforts as the UAA women's basketball team set a school record for fewest turnovers in a game in its 88-32 win over Lincoln Christian at the Sports Center tonight.

The Seawolves (2-3) got 23 points from Nizich along with 17 from Bell Jordan and career-highs of 16 for Laura Taborsky and 10 for Amber Nasby. The Angels (4-3) were led by nine points from guard Brittany Robbins.

UAA turned the ball over just six times in the rout, breaking the previous school mark of seven, set in 1978 vs. Lewis & Clark and in 2000 vs. Montana State-Billings.

Nizich surpassed her previous career-best of 14 in the first half as the Seawolves raced to a 49-19 advantage despite not scoring for the first three minutes. UAA shot 50 percent (36-72) for the first time this season and had 26 and 14 steals.

Nasby also had career-highs of nine rebounds and four steals, while fellow freshman Lindsay Behrends had the best offensive showing of her young career with six points.

Hailing from Lincoln, Ill., LCC is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association.

The Seawolves will meet the Angels again at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at the Sports Center.
