CSULA fends off BYU-Hawaii, 77-56

ANCHORAGE – Tessondra Williams scored 22 points and fellow senior Richelle Najera posted a double-double Tuesday to lead Cal State Los Angeles to a 77-56 victory over Brigham Young-Hawaii in the AT&T Hoops Classic women's basketball tournament at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

The Golden Eagles (7-3) got 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, plus 13 rebounds, three assists and no turnovers from Najera, while starting guard Alyssa Hanson added 10 points for the California Collegiate Athletic Association squad.

The Seasiders (1-5), of the Pacific West Conference, were led by 16 points and 13 rebounds from forward Shayla Washington, who posted her second straight double-double.

BYU-Hawaii completes round-robin play Wednesday at 5 p.m. against Eastern New Mexico, while CSULA will face host Alaska Anchorage in the 7 p.m. finale in a rematch of last year's NCAA West Regional Championships first-round game.
