ANCHORAGE (Jan. 13) - Amanda Olsen scored 19 points to lead 16th-ranked Western Washington to a 65-58 victory over the UAA women's basketball team at the Sports Center tonight, snapping the Seawolves' winning streak at seven games. Stephanie Smith led UAA (11-3, 7-1 Pac West) with 13 points in a game that featured the two top-ranked teams in the West Region.
Celeste Hill scored 15 points for the Vikings (12-1, 5-0 Pac West), who entered the contest ranked second in the West behind the top-rated Seawolves. But bench player Jodie Kaczor was the hero for WWU, nailing three consecutive three-pointers to rally the Vikings from a 40-38 deficit to a 48-40 lead with 6 minutes remaining.
Tirzah Church scored 11 points and Kellie Torrey tallied 10 for the Seawolves, who return to the Sports Center court Saturday night to face Seattle Pacific at 7:05 p.m.
