ANCHORAGE (Jan. 15) - Megan Buchmann and Tiffany Massey combined for 29 of the Seawolves' 39 bench points as the UAA women's basketball team knocked off Seattle Pacific, 64-56, at the Sports Center tonight. Massey had 15 and Buchmann 14 points for UAA (12-3, 8-1 Pac West), while Ashley Miller led the Falcons (10-4, 3-3 PWC) with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Buchmann hit 3 of 5 three-pointers to key a 16-4 run early in the second half that extended UAA's lead from 34-32 to 50-36 with 11:50 remaining. But the Falcons got hot from three-point range, cutting the deficit to 60-56 with 4:20 remaining on Kristin Poe's long bomb. From there, the Seawolves clamped down on the defensive end, holding the Falcons scoreless and getting three clinching free throws from Buchmann.
The Seawolves, who got 9 points and 9 rebounds from Stephanie Smith, have won eight of their last nine games. UAA now hits the road to Washington to take on Saint Martin's Thursday and Central Washington Saturday.
