ANCHORAGE (Oct. 14) - Sophomore Cami Gardner had a career-high 21 kills but the University of Alaska Anchorage volleyball team came up short against Western Washington 15-8, 15-8, 2-15, 16-14 at the Sports Center tonight.
Gardner also had 12 digs to register her second career double-double for the Seawolves (10-16, 6-4 Pac West). Michelle Parker, the leading percentage hitter in the Pac West, led the Vikings (17-5, 9-0) with 19 kills in 41 attempts.
Meanwhile, UAA senior Vanessa Tsukano posted her team-best 11th double-double with 13 kills and 19 digs, while sophomore Brianne Halling hit well with 16 kills and only three errors in 29 attempts.
The win was the 10th straight for the Vikings and their 14th in 15 matches.
UAA rallied to tie the fourth game 14-14 after trailing 9-2 early in the frame, but WWU served out the last two points.
The Seawolves return to the court Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21 when they host a pair with Pac West rival Montana State-Billings at the Sports Center. Both matches begin at 7:05 p.m.
