ANCHORAGE (Oct. 3) - The University of Alaska Anchorage volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak with a 16-14, 9-15, 15-13, 15-9 win over Chaminade in a Pac West match at the Sports Center tonight.
Senior outside hitter Heather Riter led a balanced UAA attack with 13 kills and three aces. No other Seawolf reached double figures in kills, but five player had at least seven. Sophomore defensive specialist Loreann Aquino had a career-best 13 digs for UAA (8-13, 4-1 PWC) and sophomore middle blocker Cami Gardner also had 13 digs.
Audrey Brady led Chaminade (2-10, 1-3) with 13 kills.
The Seawolves showed their resiliency, rallying from deficits to win Games 1, 3 and 4. UAA trailed 7-2 in the first and 5-0 and 13-10 in the third before squeaking out the wins. Then in the fourth, UAA trailed only briefly at 4-3 before putting together its best game of the match to pull away.
The Seawolves return to the court Wednesday night when they host Hawaii-Hilo at 7:05 p.m. at the Sports Center in another conference match.
