ANCHORAGE (Feb. 26) - Senior Chris Hamey, playing in his final home game, scored a team-high 21 and grabbed 8 rebounds as the UAA men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 76-69 win at the Sports Center on Saturday night. Junior guard Taylor Wagner had 14 for UAA (17-9, 6-6 Pac West), while HPU center Ryan Adle posted game-highs of 26 points and 10 rebounds.
The Seawolves led by as many as 11 points in the second half, but a late HPU run cut the advantage to 70-69 with 1:55 remaining. From there, Hamey made a clutch three-pointer, a free throw and a layup as he scored the game's final six points. UAA, which shot just 3-for-18 from three-point range in the first half, got its touch back in time to go 6-for-11 on threes in the second stanza.
Senior center Serge Using had 9 rebounds for the Seawolves, clinching a double-double for the season. He is just the third Seawolf ever (Hansi Gnad, Todd Fisher) to accomplish that feat. Using also had three blocks, leaving him two shy of Gnad's career mark of 145.
