ANCHORAGE (Sept. 23) - Angel Fairbanks had 18 kills and 13 digs to lead the University of Alaska Fairbanks past host University of Alaska Anchorage 15-5, 17-15, 9-15, 15-6 at the Sports Center tonight.
Senior outside hitter Vanessa Tsukano tallied her team-high seventh double-double of the season with 11 kills and 13 digs for UAA (7-11, 3-0 Pac West), while senior outside hitter Heather Riter contributed 12 kills. Stephanie Grindel had 16 kills for UAF (6-3, 2-1 Pac West).
The battle between volleyball rivals did not count in the conference standings. UAA travels to Fairbanks next week to take on UAF Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. Only Friday's match counts as a conference affair.
