FAIRBANKS (Sept. 29) - Vanessa Tsukano had 17 kills and 18 digs, but it wasn't enough as the University of Alaska Anchorage volleyball team fell 15-12, 15-10, 13-15, 13-15, 15-12 to Alaska Fairbanks at the Patty Center tonight.

The loss was the first in Pac West Conference play for UAA (7-12, 3-1), while UAF, led by Stephanie Grindel's 28 kills, improved to 7-3, 3-1.

Heather Riter was the only other Seawolf in double-figure kills for UAA with 10, while Janelle Morrisette posted 51 assists and 10 digs. UAA put up slightly better numbers than UAF, outhitting the Nanooks .162 to .160 and tallying 75 digs to UAF's 73.

The match lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. UAA and UAF meet again at the Patty Center Saturday night at 7 p.m. in a match that does not count in the conference standings.
