ANCHORAGE (Dec. 28) - Forwards
Peter Bullock and G.J. Macon each posted double-doubles, but it wasn't enough as the UAA men's basketball team shot only 30.6 percent in a 78-64 loss to Angelo State at the Sports Center tonight.
Anchorage native Jay Lewis, a former Bartlett High standout, led the Rams (8-3) with 17 points, while Bullock scored 17 and grabbed 10 rebounds for UAA (1-8).
UAA led early 19-8, but the Rams countered with an 11-0 run and pulled ahead 34-32 at halftime. The Seawolves scored the first six points of the second half before Lewis sparked a 13-3 run that gave Angelo State a 47-41 lead with 13:28 remaining. Lewis shot 5 of 7 on three-pointers.
Macon equaled his career-high with 15 points, scoring the first eight points of the ball game. He also set a new personal best with 11 rebounds.
UAA outrebounded the Rams 53-45, but it was cold shooting that led to the loss as the Seawolves made just 22 of 72 shots. Despite their scoring outputs, Bullock and Macon combined to shoot just 13 for 36.
The Seawolves will get another shot at the Texas school Saturday at the Sports Center at 7:05 p.m.
