LACEY, Wash. - Senior Megan Buchmann had 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists to boost the University of Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team to a 74-45 rout of host Saint Martin's tonight.
It was the biggest margin of victory for UAA (9-11, 7-8 Pac West) this season and stretched the team's winning streak to six. Saint Martin's (10-10, 7-7) was led by 12 points and eight rebounds from senior Kami Koehler.
For Buchmann, a 5-4 point guard playing near her hometown of Grandview, Wash., it was her first career double-double and marked a career-high in rebounds. Senior guard/forward Tiffany Massey had her usual solid outing with 11 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Regina Wilhelm had a season-high 11 points on 3-for-3 three-point shooting.
UAA, which led 34-25 at the half, also got a positive contribution from reserve center Bell Jordan, who had 15 points, five rebounds and shot 7-for-10 from the free throw line. Senior forward Jennifer Gardeline grabbed a career-high nine rebounds.
The Seawolves finish their short road trip when they travel to Ellensburg, Wash., for a game with Central Washington on Saturday. The Wildcats are ranked sixth in the West Region and are battling for an NCAA berth.
