ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The University of Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team had its six-game winning streak stopped here tonight against Central Washington, falling 56-46 despite a strong performance by senior Tiffany Massey.
Massey had her eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds for UAA (9-12, 7-9 Pac West), while Rose Shaw led the Wildcats (16-5, 11-5) with a game-high 15 points.
Massey, a guard from Payson, Utah, has registered a double-double in all five of her career meetings against Central Washington.
UAA senior forward Kellie Larrabee had her best rebounding performance of the season with 13, but the Seawolves were hurt by 30 turnovers while compiling only five assists. Three Seawolves - Megan Buchmann, Jennifer Gardeline and Dana Bottoms - fouled out.
CWU entered the game ranked sixth in the all-important West Region rankings, which determine the six teams that will advance to the NCAA Tournament.
UAA returns to the Sports Center next week to take on Western Washington and nationally ranked and league-leading Seattle Pacific.
