ARCATA, Calif. (Sept. 22) - Brianne Halling and Carolyn DeKay combined for 32 kills to lead the UAA volleyball team to its first-ever Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory, 26-30, 30-23, 30-25, 31-29 over Humboldt State here Saturday.
Marise Knock contributed her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 21 digs for UAA (8-4, 1-1 GNAC). Rachael Halverson led HSU (3-11, 0-5) with 18 kills and 14 digs.
Halling, who leads the leads the conference in blocks per game (1.54), had six against the Lumberjacks, including three solos. DeKay also had 16 kills, while senior setter Janelle Veith dished 49 assists.
The Seawolves also got good production from sophomore Michelle Garvin, who spiked nine kills to go with 13 digs and four blocks. Fellow sophomore Kirsten Hunley contributed four service aces.
The Seawolves finish their three-match road trip Monday night at Seattle University at 6 p.m. Alaska time.
