UAA women fall short at Seattle

SEATTLE (Jan. 24) - Senior center Bell Jordan had game-highs of 25 points and 10 rebounds as the Seawolves fell 80-70 to host Seattle University at the Connolly Center tonight.

UAA (4-13, 0-8 GNAC) got double-figure scoring from three other players, but it wasn't enough to stop the hot-shooting Redhawks (10-6, 5-3), who hit 25 of 49 from the field, including 7 of 14 three-pointers.

Guard Jessie DeLaunay scored a career-high 24 points to lead SU on 8-of-11 shooting, 6-of-9 threes. Forward Deanna Cordova chipped in 18 with a team-high 9 rebounds.

UAA, which got 12 points from freshman Jen Stoddard and 10 apiece from Tanya Nizich and Amber Nasby, trailed only 33-30 at halftime and pulled within a point when Jordan started the second half with a basket. But the Redhawks slowly pulled away from there, leading by as much as 16 points late.

Jordan's double-double was her GNAC-leading eighth of the season, and her points total was one shy of her career-high.

UAA completes its short road trip Saturday at 16th-ranked Western Washington. That game tips off at 6 p.m. AST at WWU's Carver Gym.
