ANCHORAGE (Oct. 26) - Middle blocker Brianne McCabe had 14 kills and setter Kasey Kuelper played a stellar all-around match as the UAA volleyball team swept Seattle Pacific 30-24, 30-25, 30-25 at the Sports Center tonight.
UAA (11-10, 7-6 GNAC) registered its first win over SPU (6-14, 5-8) since 1997, snapping a six-match losing streak. Monica Herrera led the Falcons with 14 kills.
Kuelper, who passed the 1,000 career assists mark in the first game, finished with 34 assists, a team-high 12 digs and a career-high .750 hitting percentage (6 kills, 0 errors, 8 attempts).
McCabe was the recipient of the majority of Kuelper's sets as she hit .448 (14-1-29) on the evening. O'Lita McWilliams had eight kills and 10 digs, and freshman Mindy Cason came off the bench in the second and third games to record seven kills.
UAA outhit the Falcons .265 to .145.
The Seawolves, winners of five of their last six, look to keep rolling when they visit Central Washington on Nov. 1 and Saint Martin's on Nov. 2.
