EL CAJON, Calif. (Dec. 16) - Kamie Jo Massey had another double-double, but it wasn't enough to help the UAA women's basketball team overcome poor shooting and 21 turnovers in a 52-49 loss to host Christian Heritage tonight.
UAA (3-3) was led by 19 points from junior center Mary Aschoff, but the Seawolves shot just 37 percent and couldn't hang on to a 23-17 halftime lead. Shanel Zunic led Christian Heritage (6-4) with 11 points and five rebounds.
Massey, a 5-9 junior from Payson, Utah, had 14 points and 10 rebounds to record her team-best third double-double of the season. She also had two assists and six steals. While Massey and Aschoff shot a combined 13 of 25 (52 percent), the rest of the Seawolves hit just 7 of 29 (24.1 percent). UAA managed to hit just 1 of 8 three-pointers also.
The Seawolves, who did outrebound the Hawks 37-30, complete their short road trip Thursday, when they take on Cal State-Dominguez Hills in Los Angeles. That game tips at 6 p.m. AST.
