CARSON, Calif. (Dec. 19) - Tanya Nizich nailed five three-pointers and Mary Aschoff poured in a career-high 21 points to lead the UAA women's basketball team to a 65-59 win over Cal State-Dominguez Hills here tonight.
The Seawolves (4-3) took advantage of a 42-29 rebounding advantage and hung on to a 10-point halftime lead to record the victory. The Toros (2-3) got 15 points and seven rebounds from Kendra Tease.
Nizich went 5 of 7 from long range on her way to a season-high 18 points, while Aschoff converted 9 of 12 free throws. UAA won the battle of the boards thanks to the efforts of Kamie Jo Massey (career-high 12 rebounds) and Mindy Mendenhall (11).
Point guard Sarah Larrabee contributed a career-best five assists to go with two steals and zero turnovers.
UAA is off until Jan. 3-4 when it hosts Oklahoma Panhandle State at the Sports Center. Tip-off both nights is 7:05 p.m.
