SEATTLE (Feb. 16) - Senior center Bell Jordan reached the 30-point plateau for the second time in three games and the UAA women's basketball team hung tight the entire way in an 80-69 loss at No. 15 Seattle Pacific tonight.
The Seawolves (5-19, 1-14 GNAC) got 32 points from Jordan and 16 from freshman Jen Stoddard, while SPU (19-5, 11-4) was led by center Kelley Berglund's 20 points and 16 rebounds.
Jordan, the GNAC's leading scorer, shot 13 for 23 from the field and pulled down 13 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season. Her performance came exactly one week after she scored 32 in a loss at Saint Martin's.
Sophomore guard Tanya Nizich scored 11 points and dished five assists, while senior guard Stephanie Johnson also had five assists.
The Seawolves were a solid 15 of 18 from the free throw line but were beaten on the boards 42-33. The Falcons used 50 percent shooting (32-64) and nine assists from Trisha Hermanson to keep the Seawolves at bay.
UAA trailed 45-31 at halftime but won the second half scoring battle 38-35.
The Seawolves return to Anchorage for a home rematch with arch-rival Alaska Fairbanks on Feb. 23. Tip-off is 6 p.m. at the UAA Sports Center.
