Wildcat comeback thwarts Seawolves

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Feb. 7) - Despite getting a career game from forward G.J. Macon, the UAA men's basketball team was unable to hold off a furious second-half rally, falling 93-88 to host Central Washington at Nicholson Pavilion tonight.


Macon scored 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting for UAA (7-13, 7-4 GNAC), but B.J. Letcher came off the bench with 19 to help CWU (11-9, 4-8) rally from a 46-36 halftime deficit.


UAA started out hot early, knocking down 18 of 31 first-half shots (58.1 percent). But the Seawolves cooled to 37.5 percent while the Wildcats shot 52.9 percent in the second stanza.


Freshman guard Mark Drake continued to show off his scoring touch, racking up 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting (4-8 3FG, 5-5 FT), while grabbing three steals. Sophomore Nathon Glover was solid off the bench for UAA, coming up with 12 points and dishing a pair of assists. Point guard Bryson Vaughan had five assists and a career-best six steals.


The Seawolves complete their short road trip with another Great Northwest Athletic Conference game Saturday at Saint Martin's (6 p.m. AST).
