LACEY, Wash. (Feb. 9) - Saint Martin's swingman Gerrit Eades put on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's top scoring display of the season, leading his Saints to a 97-64 victory over the UAA men's basketball team here tonight.
UAA (7-14, 7-5 GNAC) got 20 points and 10 rebounds from forward Peter Bullock, but it wasn't enough to overcome 33 percent team shooting and a 48-37 rebounding deficit. Eades scored 46 points on 18-of-32 shooting for Saint Martin's (9-12, 7-6).
Eades was 7 of 9 on three-pointers and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds also. Jerrell Everson (12 points) was the only other Saint in double figures.
Meanwhile, UAA suffered an unusually cold shooting night, hitting only 21 of 63 shots and 13 of 21 free throws. Senior guard Ty Shippen (12 points) was 4 of 5 on threes, but the rest of the team went just 5 for 16 from long range. Sophomore guard Nathon Glover came off the bench to post double figures (11 points) for the second consecutive game.
The loss prevents UAA from finishing with an overall winning record this season, the first time that has happened since 1982-83.
UAA will look to get back on track Feb. 14 when it hosts No. 7 Humboldt State at the Sports Center (7:05 p.m. AST).
