UAA stays perfect at home

ANCHORAGE (Sept. 21) - Brianne McCabe had 18 kills and Starr Burgan notched her second double-double in as many nights, helping the UAA volleyball team to a 30-25, 30-25, 24-30, 30-26 victory over Humboldt State at the Sports Center tonight.


The Seawolves (6-6, 2-2 GNAC) also got 16 kills from sophomore Carolyn DeKay, while Julia Shaw had 18 kills to lead the Lumberjacks (3-9, 1-3).


UAA came from behind in each game to post the victory on head coach Kim Lauwers' 37th birthday. The Seawolves trailed 15-10 in the fourth and deciding game, but McCabe came through with six of her season-high 18 kills, while Burgan slammed five of her career-high-tying 13 kills to seal the match. Burgan also had 11 digs to notch her team-best fourth double-double.


The Seawolves remain unbeaten at 6-0 at the Sports Center this season.


Junior outside hitter O'Lita McWilliams had a career-best 20 digs to lead five Seawolves in double-figures in that category.


UAA next hits the road for Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches at Seattle Pacific (Sept. 27, 6 p.m. ADT) and 10th-ranked Western Washington (Sept. 28, 6 p.m. ADT).
