'Wolves bitten by 'Cats, 3-2

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Oct. 11) - The Seawolf volleyball team won every statistical battle, but couldn't come out on top in the win column as host Central Washington knocked off UAA 23-30, 30-25, 30-27, 22-30, 15-10 at Nicholson Pavilion on Saturday.


O'Lita McWilliams had 20 kills and 20 digs for UAA (10-7, 4-5 GNAC), while Katina Ozrelic ripped a career-high 17 kills on .405 hitting. CWU (7-10, 6-3) got 20 kills from LeAnne McGahuey and 69 assists from setter Kate Reome.


UAA, which dropped its second straight, fell into a quick 5-1 hole in the fifth. McWilliams' final kill of the night cut the deficit to 11-9, but the Wildcats responded with four of the next five points for the win.


Setter Kasey Kuelper had 61 assists as the Seawolves outhit the Wildcats .251 to .225, outblocked them 8-3 and outdug them 89-81. The 89 digs were a season-high.


Seawolf senior libero Kirsten Hunley dug a season-best 20 balls.


UAA is off until Saturday, Oct. 18 when its returns to the Wells Fargo Sports Complex to host arch-rival Alaska Fairbanks. First serve is 7:05 p.m.
