SEATTLE (Nov. 15) - O'Lita McWilliams almost broke the school record with 31 kills as the UAA volleyball team ended its season on a high note with a 29-31, 30-25, 30-25, 30-26 victory over Seattle Pacific at Brougham Pavilion on Saturday.
Mindy Cason blasted 25 kills and McWilliams had a match-high 21 digs for the Seawolves (16-10, 10-8 GNAC), who finished tied for fourth place in the 10-team Great Northwest Athletic Conference. SPU (15-10, 8-10), which got 19 kills from Jessica Bauder, finished seventh in the league standings.
Like McWilliams, fellow senior Kasey Kuelper saved her best match for last, dishing a career-high 67 assists to go with 19 digs. Kuelper's sets helped UAA outhit SPU .259 to .185.
McWilliams came just short of the Cherie Knox's school-record 32 kills, set in 1989 against Regis.
The victory snapped an 8-match losing streak at SPU, with UAA's last win at Brougham coming in 1992. It was also UAA's first season sweep of the Falcons since 1997.
