FAIRBANKS (Feb. 8) - The UAA women's basketball team couldn't hold a four-point halftime lead Saturday, losing its fourth straight game, 68-57 to host Alaska Fairbanks at the Patty Center today.
Junior guard Kamie Jo Massey had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Seawolves (8-9, 3-6 GNAC), while sophomore forward Amber Nasby chipped in nine points. UAF (7-11, 2-7) got a game-high 19 from Adrienne Taalak and 11 points and 11 rebounds from Heidi Arts.
The Seawolves led 25-21 at the half but were outscored 47-32 in the second 20 minutes. UAA got off 73 shots to UAF's 50, but the Seawolves made only three more (26-23) than their rivals. The Nanooks won the game by hitting 7 of 16 three-pointers, while the Seawolves made only 3 of 9.
UAA freshman Kelsey Larsen had a career-high eight points in the loss.
The Seawolves will try to get back on track Monday when they host a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game against Western Washington at the Sports Center. Tip-off is 7:05 p.m.
