Vikings too much for Seawolf women

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (Mar. 6) - Mary Aschoff had 12 points and 11 rebounds, but the UAA women's basketball team couldn't stay with nationally ranked Western Washington, losing 83-56 at Carver Gymnasium tonight.


UAA (10-15, 5-12 GNAC) was led by Kamie Jo Massey's 14 points, while WWU (21-5, 14-3) got 19 points from forward Stacey Miller.


The Seawolves hung with the 24th-ranked Vikings until midway through the first half when the home team went on a 9-0 run to take control. Jessica Reilly hit a layup a minute into the second half to cut the deficit to 40-31 before the Vikings sealed the game with another run of 16-0.


Aschoff's double-double was her fourth this season, while Massey came up with eight rebounds and four assists. Junior guard Tanya Nizich went 3-of-8 from the three-point line for her nine points.


The Seawolves conclude the season Saturday when they travel south for a 7 p.m. PST matchup with Seattle University (9-17, 3-14).
