ARCATA, Calif. (Jan. 15) - The UAA men's basketball team had its 7-game winning streak snapped with a 78-66 loss at 10th-ranked Humboldt State here Thursday night. The Seawolves (12-3, 2-2 GNAC) got 17 points from Kemmy Burgess and 14 from Mark Drake but shot only 36.7 percent overall.
The Lumberjacks (13-3, 4-1) were led by point guard Mark White's 16-point, 7-assist effort.
UAA shot 11 of 26 (42.3 percent) from three-point range but connected on just 11 of 34 from inside the arc and was unable to take advantage of a 40-30 rebounding edge.
The Lumberjacks led 42-26 at halftime and boosted their advantage as high as 27 in the second half.
HSU held UAA's Peter Bullock to a season-low four points (2-7 FG), although the all-conference forward did grab a team-best nine rebounds. Bullock is now 16 points shy of breaking Hansi Gnad's UAA scoring record of 1,666 points heading into Saturday night's game at Western Oregon (6:30 p.m. AST).
Point guard Aaron Lawrence, who dished six assists against zero turnovers, was the only other Seawolf in double figures Thursday with 13 points.
