Seawolves swooped in Seattle

SEATTLE (Feb. 12) - Another monster game from Kamie Jo Massey wasn't enough to overcome a talented Seattle Pacific team Thursday night as the UAA women's basketball team was beaten 69-45 at Royal Brougham Pavilion.

Massey had game-highs of 21 points, 16 rebounds and six steals, while fellow senior Tanya Nizich scored 15 points for the Seawolves (9-12, 4-8 GNAC). The third-ranked Falcons (21-0, 12-0) relied on their depth as Mandy Wood and Carli Smith came off the bench to combine for 25 points.

UAA led 4-2 early before SPU slowly stretched its lead. The Falcons were up 41-18 before Nizich nailed a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer. The Seawolves got no closer than 19 in the second half.

Massey posted her third straight double-double and her eighth this season. Her six steals matched a career-high for the fifth time.

The Seawolves will try to get back on track Saturday when they visit Ellensburg, Wash., to take on Central Washington.
