ARCATA, Calif. (Jan. 22) - Taylor Long had 12 points and eight rebounds, but the Seawolf women's basketball team couldn't find any extra offensive firepower in a 61-46 loss to Humboldt State here Saturday.
UAA (7-9, 2-5 GNAC) got another fine all-around game from point guard Christa Wilson in the loss as the junior tallied eight points, eight rebounds and seven assists. HSU (5-12, 2-6) was powered by forward Jenna Washington's 18-point, 11-rebound double-double.
The Seawolves trailed just 29-25 at halftime, and they forged a 34-34 tie on a Long layup early in the second half. But the Lumberjacks responded with a 13-0 burst to take control for good.
Senior center Nicole Lynch tallied 14 points for the Lumberjacks, who hit 17 of 17 free throws as a team.
Sophomore center Tenecia Macon scored nine points for the Seawolves, while senior forward Amber Nasby had seven points and seven rebounds.
UAA returns home to battle Northwest Nazarene in another Great Northwest Athletic Conference game, Thursday, Jan. 27 at 7:05 p.m.
