HILO, Hawaii (Aug. 27) - A pair of Seawolf freshmen had another solid match, but it wasn't enough against the 8th-ranked team in the nation as Hawaii Pacific knocked off UAA 30-16, 30-12, 30-19 in the Hawaiian Style Classic volleyball tournament here Saturday night.
Heather Lyons had 12 kills for UAA, while fellow rookie Caitlin Grenier added nine in UAA's fourth loss in as many matches. The balanced Sea Warriors (6-0) got three or more kills from nine different players, led by Danie Hout's 11.
Lyons and Jenny Carpenter had eight digs apiece to lead UAA, while setter Stephanie Martinez managed 24 assists.
The Seawolves return to Anchorage for the home-opener, Sept. 1 against Hawaii-Hilo in the Aspen Hotels Invitational.
