ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Jan. 12) - Central Washington center Laura Wright scored 27 points on near-perfect shooting to lead her team to a 93-54 Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's basketball victory over UAA on Thursday at Nicholson Pavilion.
UAA (8-5, 1-3 GNAC) was led by 11 points apiece from Rebecca Kielpinski and Kelsey Larsen. CWU (7-5, 3-2), which shot 59.3 percent from the floor, also got 19 points from forward Jamie Corwin.
Freshman guard Kim Brady scored 10 points for UAA, which was outrebounded 38-27 and shot just 33.3 percent on field goals. The Seawolves, who scored on the first possession of the game on a Tristan Burnett jumper, would never lead again after falling behind by early counts of 15-5 and 30-10.
Wright shot 11 of 13 from the floor, 4 of 4 from the free throw line and hit her only three-point attempt for the Wildcats, who led 51-20 at the half.
The Seawolves have another tough test to complete their 3-game road trip with a match-up Saturday at ninth-ranked Western Washington.
