ANCHORAGE (Sept. 1) - Outside hitter Marissa Miller had 16 kills and 18 digs, and Emily Evans slammed 12 kills Friday to lead Notre Dame de Namur to a 35-33, 30-23, 32-30 victory over Briar Cliff in the third match of the Extended Stay Deluxe Invitational at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
NDNU (3-4) also got 26 digs from libero Shauna Folan as they opened their round-robin schedule with a victory. BCU (5-2), which dropped to 1-1 in the tournament, was led by 14 kills and 15 digs from outside hitter Renee Beiermann.
Briar Cliff, of Sioux City, Iowa, returns quickly to action with a 5 p.m. ADT start against LaGrange (Ga.). NDNU, of Belmont, Calif., takes on host Alaska Anchorage at 7 p.m.
