ANCHORAGE - Matt Overman's goal at 6:01 of the first period would be the only scoring No. 4-ranked Colorado College would need as goaltender Drew O'Connell would stop all 28 shots he faced to help lead the visiting Tigers to a 1-0 victory over Alaska Anchorage tonight at Sullivan Arena.
The Seawolves (4-4-3, 1-4-2 WCHA) outshot CC in all three periods, including owning a 7-3 edge in the second and 10-5 in the third, but were held scoreless on six power-play opportunities.
UAA controlled most of the action in the Tiger zone for a good portion of the contest and generated quality scoring chances in all three periods, but couldn't find a way to get the puck into the net as it was handed its third shutout loss of the season.
Defensively the Seawolves were solid as well, limiting CC (9-4-0, 9-2-0 WCHA) to a season-low 16 shot attempts while killing off all three penalties. Sophomore netminder Jon Olthuis stopped 15 shots, including seven in the first period.
The 'Wolves won the faceoff battle 37-25.
Sophomore forward Paul Crowder led UAA's offensive efforts with a game-high six shot attempts, while sophomore forward Kevin Clark and freshman forward Tommy Grant had three each.
