ANCHORAGE ? Ruby Williams tied the school record for field-goal percentage and three other Seawolves scored in double figures Friday as 5th-ranked Alaska Anchorage rolled to an 88-55 women's basketball victory over Texas-Permian Basin at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
Williams led UAA (8-0) with 20 points on 10-of-11 marksmanship, while fellow junior forward Lillie Parks scored a season-high 13 points off the bench.
Senior guard Crystal Johnson led UTPB (1-7) with a game-high 22 points and six assists.
The Seawolves led the whole way to stretch their school-record home winning streak to 24 games. UAA held just 39-30 advantage late in the first half but used an 11-0 run stretching over the halftime break to make it a 20-point margin.
Williams, a Phoenix native and transfer from Central Arizona College, hit her first nine shots and grabbed five rebounds. Her .909 shooting percentage tied former center Dana Bottoms (vs. Notre Dame de Namur, Nov. 17, 1997) in the UAA record books.
Junior center Rebecca Kielpinski and junior post Dasha Basova scored 10 points apiece for the home team, while senior Maria Nilsson chipped in eight points, five rebounds and three assists.
UAA will meet the visitors from the Heartland Conference again Saturday when they tip off at 5 p.m. AST at the WFSC.
