ANCHORAGE ? Ruby Williams and Lillie Parks posted their first career double-doubles as Alaska Anchorage used balanced scoring to pull away for an 84-54 victory over Texas-Permian Basin on Saturday.
The Seawolves (9-0), ranked No. 5 in NCAA Div. II, also got 53 points from their bench and outrebounded the Falcons 60-32. It was UAA's 25th straight home victory and also matched the Wells Fargo Sports Complex record of 21 consecutive victories from Jan. 1983 to Jan. 1985.
UTPB (1-8) was led by 14 points and eight rebounds from center Taneesha Leak.
Williams had 12 points, 12 rebounds and a pair of blocks, while Parks, a fellow junior forward, posted 10 points (4-6 FG) and 10 boards. Junior guard Elisha Harris (11 pts) and freshman guard Nikki Aden (10 pts) both had season-high scoring efforts off the bench, while starting forward Maria Nilsson tallied 10 points.
The Seawolves outrebounded the visitors from Odessa, Texas, 60-32, and grabbed a season-high 14 steals.
It was UAA's fifth win in nine days, all coming by 30 or more points. The Seawolves leave for Hawaii next week where they will take on Chaminade in Honolulu, then Nebraska-Kearney and Hawaii-Hilo in Hilo.
