BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Jaime Anderson and Emily Castro notched 13 kills apiece Saturday as host Western Washington cruised to a 30-15, 30-12, 30-20 victory over Alaska Anchorage in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match at Carver Gymnasium.

UAA (4-5, 0-3 GNAC) got a team-high seven kills from junior outside hitter Joanna Johnson, but the Seawolves were not able to keep up with the preseason GNAC favorites.

Tiana Roma had 12 kills on .409 hitting and Courtney Schneider made a match-high 21 digs for the Vikings (7-4, 3-1).

UAA led 8-5 early in the first game, but WWU answered with seven straight points and dominated from there.

Junior libero Cristal Negron led UAA with 15 digs, while junior outside hitter Rhea Cardwell made 10 digs. True freshman Alison Warick saw the first action of her Seawolf career, making a pair of attack attempts.

The Seawolves return home next week to face Seattle University and Montana State Billings on Thursday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 22. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
