NAMPA, Idaho ? Fresh off its first league win of the year, the Alaska Anchorage volleyball team could not continue any of its momentum Saturday as host Northwest Nazarene rolled to a 30-17, 30-26, 30-26 victory at the Johnson Sports Complex.
UAA (5-8, 1-6 GNAC) was led by 11 kills from senior Kim Stolk and 10 kills by Rachel Kidwell, but hot-hitting NNU (10-5, 4-3) used near-flawless showings from Chelsea Pelton (12 kills, 1 errors, 21 attacks) and Allison James (7 kills, 0 errors, 9 attacks) to register a .358 attack percentage.
The Crusaders also outblocked the Seawolves 11-4.
Outside hitter Rhea Cardwell made a match-high 15 digs, however she was held to only eight kills on .105 hitting, while fellow junior Joanna Johnson managed only five kills on -.071 hitting. Cardwell and Johnson had combined for 28 kills in Thursday's 3-2 upset of two-time defending GNAC champion Seattle Pacific.
Setter Milica Micovic dished 34 assists in Saturday's loss.
The Seawolves now return to Anchorage for two straight weekends and four matches in a row, beginning Thursday against Western Oregon (7 p.m. ADT).
