SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: At 7-2, Western Oregon is off to its best start since the 2003-04 season, suffering its only losses on the road at North Dakota and in a neutral-court game against BYU-Hawaii. The Wolves, who are coming off an impressive West Region win over Sonoma State, are led by 5-10 Sr. G Brad Krichevsky (15.0 ppg, 2.2 apg, 2.2 spg) and 6-5 Jr. G Sam Kelly (13.7 ppg, 2.4 rpg, .500 FG, .500 3FG, .844 FT). WOU is 5-0 on its home court so far ... Saint Martin's takes a 4-game winning streak into Thursday's home game against Alaska Fairbanks, following on the heels of a 4-game losing streak. JAMBOREE GLEE: The Seawolves ran their winning streak to seven games with wins over Ferris State (71-45) and Christian Brothers (75-52) in the AT&T Alascom Jamboree, Dec. 28 and 29 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex, capturing the event's unofficial title. In the first game, Sr. G Chris Bryant led four Seawolves in double figures with 23 points, while Sr. F Carl Arts chipped in 16 points. Sr. F McCade Olsen had 12 points and 8 rebounds, Jr. F Cameron Burney scored 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-4 3FG), and Jr. C Jeremiah Trueman (career-high 9 rebounds) and Fr. G Kevin White (4 assists, no turnovers) both made big contributions off the bench. In Saturday's affair, UAA erased a 44-40 second-half deficit against CBU, which was nationally ranked in the preseason. The Seawolves got 20 points (9-14 FG) from Olsen, 17 from Bryant (6-10 FG, 4-8 3FG), 11 from Arts, and a 12-point, 12-assists double-double by Sr. PG Luke Cooper as they ended the game on a 35-8 run. Bryant was named the event's Most Outstanding Player and was joined on the All-Jamboree Team by Olsen and Cooper.

TEAM NOTES: UAA's 7-game winning streak equals its longest since early in the 2003-04 season ... the Seawolves finished the non-conference portion of their schedule with a perfect 9-0 mark against Division II squads ... UAA is 5-0 when scoring 80 or more ... despite playing three Division I teams, UAA leads the GNAC in scoring defense (59.9) ... UAA's perfect showing in Hawaii gave it a 6-game win streak in the Islands, combining with another 3-0 trip in the 2003-04 season ... the 45 points allowed against Texas-Permian Basin and Ferris State tied for the 9th-fewest ever given up for a Seawolf team ... UAA's 16 points allowed in the opening 20 minutes against Brevard on opening night equaled the 6th-fewest ever given up by a Seawolf team in the first half ... UAA's plus-19 rebound margin Nov. 16 was two better than the Seawolves did all last season.

BRYANT EARNS POW NOD: Sr. G Chris Bryant was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's co-Player of the Week for Dec. 24-30, the league office announced Monday. Bryant was chosen the Most Outstanding Player of the AT&T Alascom Jamboree after averaging 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in home wins over Ferris State and Christian Brothers, Dec. 28 and 29. The Metlakatla native and transfer from Division I Drake shot 56 percent (15-27) from the field and 47 percent (9-19) from three-point range as UAA improved to 9-0 against Division II opposition. He scored 23 points in Friday's 71-45 win over FSU, then followed Saturday by scoring 15 of his 17 points in the second half of a 75-52 win against CBU. He also matched his season-highs with six rebounds and three assists against the Buccaneers. For the season, Bryant is averaging 13.8 ppg and shooting 45 percent on three-pointers. He shared the weekly honor with Central Washington Sr. G Nate Jackson.

PLAYER NOTES: With 1,106 career points and 587 rebounds, Sr. F Carl Arts needs just four points more points and five more boards to pass former All-American Jeff Martin (1982-84) for 10th place in scoring and Jeff Sheedy (1985-88) for 4th place in rebounds on UAA's all-time list ... Arts already ranks in UAA's career top 10 in seven categories ? rebounds, blocks (7th, 56), 3FG% (4th, .440), FT% (9th, .835), FG made (10th, 419), games started (9th, 67) and double-doubles (t-9th, 10) ... Arts has scored in double digits in all but one game, including six showings of 20 or more ... the senior from Valdez ranks 4th in the GNAC in scoring (17.3 ppg), 1st in rebounding (8.6 rpg), 1st in defensive rebounding (7.2 drpg) and 2nd in minutes per game (34.3) ... Burney tied for UAA's best showing this year with 5 steals against CBU, putting him into 14th place in the GNAC with 1.25 per game ... Sr. F McCade Olsen has scored in double digits nine times and is shooting 37 of 60 (.617) over the last six games ... the Utah native ranks in the GNAC's top 15 in scoring (10th, 14.8), rebounding (12th, 5.6), FG% (10th, .558), FT% (13th, .778) and blocks (10th, 0.75) ...
