COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ? The Alaska Anchorage hockey team's five-game road unbeaten streak came to an end as No. 4-ranked Colorado College earned its seventh win in its last 10 games as it downed the Seawolves 6-1 on home ice here tonight at the World Arena.
The league-leading Tigers (15-6-0, 14-3-0 WCHA) scored three goals in the second and three more in the third to hand the Seawolves (6-8-5, 2-8-3 WCHA) their worst loss of the season.
Former UAA skater Eric Walsky scored CC's first two goals while Jimmy Kilpatrick tallied the game's third marker giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead at 12:41 of the second. Kilpatrick's goal occurred just eight seconds after Walsky's second score.
The Seawolves would score their lone goal of the night at 14:02 of the second, as sophomore winger Josh Lunden found the back of the net for his team-leading ninth time this season. Junior Shane Lovdahl and freshman Winston DayChief were credited with the assists.
CC notched third-period goals from Scott McCulloch, Chad Rau and Tyler Johnson despite attempting just six shots in the final 20 minutes.
UAA matched its season-low for shots on goal with 22, including only three in the first period. The Tigers, who are now 29-2-0 all-time at home against the Seawolves, fired 27 shots on net.
The Seawolves were scoreless on both of their power-play opportunities while the Tigers went 1 for 3.
Sophomore goaltender Jon Olthuis made 21 saves and gave up five goals in 55:13 of action while freshman walk-on Aaron Mayo allowed one goal in 4:18 of playing time.
CC's Richard Bachman improved to 14-3-0 in net with a 21-save outing in the win.
UAA faces the Tigers for the fourth time this season in Saturday's series finale (5:07 p.m.).
