Rebecca Kielpinski had a double-double and senior Jennifer Salazar had her best outing of the season as the 7th-ranked Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team put an emphatic end to Seattle University's 10-game unbeaten streak with a 69-44 win at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex on Saturday.
The Seawolves (13-1, 2-0 GNAC) shot a season-high 56.3 percent from the field, including a red-hot 22 of 30 (73 percent) from inside the three-point arc.
Kielpinski had 14 points and 13 rebounds for her 32nd career double-double, while Salazar rained in 15 points. Together, the duo posted 13-of-19 shooting and 11 assists.
Seattle (10-1, 1-1) was led by 15 points (5-6 FG, 3-3 3FG) from reserve guard Kamrica Ary-Turner, but the rest of the Redhawks combined to shoot just 12 of 40 from the field and committed 23 turnovers.
UAA led for all but 20 seconds early in the game and held the edge in every statistical category. Ashley Thompson scored 12 points (4-6 FG, 3-3 FT) and fellow junior forward Lillie Parks had 11 points (5-6 FG) and a pair of steals off the bench.
Senior guard Kalhie Quinones overcame early foul trouble to finish with nine points (3-4 FG, 2-2 FT) and four assists in just 15 minutes, while junior guard Danielle Dekel dished five assists in her second straight start.
The Seawolves extended their school-record home winning streak to 27 games (including 23 at the WFSC).
UAA hits the road next week for games at Northwest Nazarene on Jan. 10 (5 p.m. AST) and 8th-ranked Seattle Pacific on Jan. 12 (6 p.m. AST).
