SEATTLE ? Seattle Pacific's Nikki Finley smashed 21 kills and Sarah Risser had 15 kills Thursday to lead the host Falcons to a 25-22, 29-27, 25-20 sweep of Alaska Anchorage in Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball action at Brougham Pavilion.
UAA (12-11, 4-6 GNAC) was paced by 10 kills from senior outside hitter Joanna Johnson, while junior libero Stacie Meisner made a match-high 16 digs.
But little went right for the Seawolves as they were out-hit .244 to .129 and outblocked by a decisive 12-5 count.
The Falcons (4-15, 2-8) got 15 digs from Anna Herold, plus six kills and six blocks from Paige Hoffman.
UAA standout Rhea Cardwell, who entered the match ranked fifth nationally with 4.26 kills per set, was held to just nine kills and 10 digs. Setter Calli Scott managed 25 assists, five kills and 10 digs in the losing effort.
The Seawolves will try to get back on the winning track Saturday (5 p.m. ADT) when they face Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho.
