Hat trick leads #7 CC over UAA, 6-1

ANCHORAGE - Powered by six special-teams goals, the No. 7/8 Colorado College Tigers dropped the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, 6-1, in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game Friday night at the Sullivan Arena.

Colorado College tallied two goals in each period, including five unanswered goals before the Seawolves got on the board in the third.

The Seawolves received their lone goal from junior forward Sean Wiles, his ninth of the season. The Wisconsin native extended his current goal streak to a career-high three games as he got assists from freshmen Mickey Spencer and Daniel Naslund at 3:18 of the frame.

The Tigers were led by freshman forward William Rapuzzi with a hat trick, all on the power play, while senior Mike Testwuide notched a power-play goal and a shorthanded goal. Senior Bill Sweatt recorded CC's first shorthanded goal of the evening.

Posting his fifth straight start in goal, senior Jon Olthuis recorded 20 saves in the loss, dropping his record to 5-8-1. Freshman Joe Howe (13-7-3) stopped 23 shots for the Tigers.

After being outshot 10-3 in the first period, the Seawolves responded by outshooting the Tigers 12-8 in the second and 9-8 in the third. CC came out on top, 26-24.

The Tigers were able to capitalize on four of their six power play opportunities, while UAA was scoreless on five attempts.

UAA remains in eighth place in the league standings with 13 points, while the Tigers are are third with 23 points.

The Seawolves and the Tigers will meet in a rematch Saturday night at 7:07 p.m.
