Dixie State wins A&T opener, 90-60

ANCHORAGE – Forward Breann Hill scored 16 points and made four steals Friday to help Dixie State remain unbeaten with a 90-60 women's basketball victory over Alaska Fairbanks in the first game of the 2010 AT&T Hoops Classic at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

Hill made 9 of 11 free throws for the Red Storm (8-0), while guard Shanae Vaifanua added 15 points and seven steals off the bench.

The Nanooks (0-7) were led by 15 points and 10 rebounds from senior forward Nicole Bozek in the loss.

Dixie State, from St. George, Utah, also got 12 points and six rebounds from guard Chanel Maxey, 10 points and six rebounds from forward Rachel Gines, and eight points, nine rebounds and five assists from sophomore guard Johnna Brown.

The Red Storm faces host and nationally 12th-ranked Alaska Anchorage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, while UAF will play Minot State (N.D.) at 5 p.m. on the final day of the second annual tournament.
