Johansson tabbed preseason All-American

The Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team has received a No. 19 ranking, while senior Hanna Johansson has also been tabbed as a 2011-12 preseason All-American, according to a preseason publication.

The Seawolves, coming off a 27-7 record and a trip to the NCAA Tournament Second Round, are ranked 19th by Women's Division II Bulletin. The same publication also recognized Johansson among its 'Super 16' All-American squad.

Johansson, a 6-2 center from Gothenburg, Sweden, was an All-West Region and All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection as a junior in 2010-11 when she averaged 13.2 points and 6.8 rebounds, shooting 51 percent from the floor.

UAA is the only GNAC team in the Women's D-II Bulletin rankings and one of only two West Region squads, along with No. 9 UC San Diego.

The official NCAA Div. II weekly rankings are conducted by the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association and will be released later.
