Nanooks handle Wildcats, 84-69

ANCHORAGE – Stefan Tica scored 22 points and Nico Matthews barely missed a triple-double Saturday as Alaska Fairbanks earned an 84-69 men's basketball victory over Portland Bible in the AT&T Jamboree at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

The Nanooks (3-7) got 16 points, nine rebounds and nine assists from Matthews, a senior guard, plus 16 points and six assists from backcourt mate Dominique Brinson.

The Wildcats (2-8) were led by 21 points and five assists from guard Doug Noteboom, while guard Tim Mahan knocked down 5 of 8 three-pointers and finished with 19 points.

UAF finishes the Jamboree with a 2-0 record, while PBC leaves Anchorage with a 0-2 mark.
