ANCHORAGE - Senior Jackie Matthisen had a team season-high 21 kills in just three sets Saturday to lead Alaska Anchorage to a 27-25, 25-14, 25-19 sweep of Saint Martin's in Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball action at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

The Seawolves (5-5, 1-1 GNAC) also got nine kills from sophomore middle blocker Robyn Burton, plus six kills and three aces from junior outside hitter Nikkie Viotto, to earn their first league victory of the season.

The Saints (2-4, 1-1) were led by 12 kills and six digs from outside hitter Kristyn Ross but still dropped their seventh straight against the Seawolves. The visitors from Lacey, Wash., were out-hit .304 to .136 and out-aced 10-2.

Saint Martin's had a chance to gain momentum with a set point at 25-24 in the opening frame, however Kristeen Juarez's attack was blocked by Ariel Austin and Miranda Doing. After an error by Ross, Burton clinched it for the Seawolves with an authoritative kill. The Chugiak High product had six kills on just eight attacks with no errors in the first set and finished the night with her fourth .500-plus attack percentage (.500, 9-1-16) of the season.

Matthisen took over in the second set, slamming eight kills as UAA began to run away with the match. The East Anchorage High alum also had a team-high 10 digs to record her fifth 'double-double' of the year and 23rd of her career.

Sophomore setter Siobhan Johansen ran an efficient Seawolf offense with 34 assists, and sophomore libero Quincy Haught chipped in nine digs, three aces and a career-high-tying four assists.

The Seawolves now face three straight road matches, beginning Friday, Sept. 17 at Alaska Fairbanks. UAA does not return home until a Sept. 29 date against defending GNAC champion Seattle Pacific.
