49ers shut down Golden Eagles, 72-58

ANCHORAGE – DeMario Mayfield scored 17 points to lead a balanced Charlotte effort Friday as the 49ers earned a 72-58 win over Oral Roberts in the semifinals of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout at Sullivan Arena.

Charlotte (5-0) also got 11 points from center Chris Braswell, plus seven points, seven assists and five steals from point guard Pierria Henry to move into the finals in its first-ever Shootout appearance. The 49ers will play Northeastern in Saturday's 8:30 p.m. AST championship game on CBS Sports Network.

Oral Roberts (3-2) got a game-high 18 points from guard Shawn Glover, while center Damen Bell-Holter had a game-high 13 rebounds. Bell-Holter, a senior from Hydaburg, Alaska, now has 26 rebounds in the tourney as the Golden Eagles move into the third-place game against Belmont (6 p.m. AST on CBS Sports Network).
