ANCHORAGE – Texas State nailed 11 of its first 12
shots and rolled to an 81-69 men's basketball victory over UC Riverside on
Saturday to capture seventh place in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout at
Sullivan Arena.
The Bobcats (3-3) were led by 17 points and two blocks from forward Corey
Stern, while swingman Matt Staff earned Carrs/Safeway Player of the Game honors
with 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including 2 of 3 three-pointers.
The Highlanders (1-6) got 16 points from guard Chris Harriel as they finished
winless in their first Shootout appearance.
