#9 Simon Fraser downs UAA

ANCHORAGE – Led by big games from center Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe and point guard Kristina Collins, 9th-ranked Simon Fraser took control early to earn a 75-51 women's basketball victory over Alaska Anchorage at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex on Saturday.

The host Seawolves (7-4, 1-2 GNAC) were led by 12 points, four steals and three assists from senior point guard Sasha King as they suffered a second straight defeat for the first time since February 2009.

The Clan (11-1, 4-0) scored the game's first 11 points and led 43-16 at halftime. The visitors from Burnaby, British Columbia, got 11 points, 15 rebounds and four assists from Raincock-Ekunwe, a 6-2 senior, and 15 points, seven rebounds and nine assists from Collins, who nailed 3 of 6 three-pointers.

Junior forward Kylie Burns added 11 points, freshman guard Jessica Madison had 10 points, and sophomore guard Alli Madison chipped in nine points, four rebounds and a team-high four assists for the Seawolves.

UAA hits the road next week for the first time this season, traveling for games at Montana State Billings (Thur., Jan. 10, 5 p.m. AST) and Seattle Pacific (Sat., Jan. 12, 4:15 p.m. AST).

NOTES: Along with Thursday's 70-60 loss to No. 20 Western Washington, the Seawolves have now lost consecutive home games for the first time since late in the 2005-06 season … senior forward Alysa Horn grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and now ranks No. 14 in both rebounds (490) and points (895) on UAA's career lists.
