Women cruise past Silverswords, 93-57

HONOLULU – Paced by another big night from local Hawaii-grown point guard Kiki Robertson, the Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team swept its three-game Oahu trip with a 93-57 win over Chaminade on Thursday at McCabe Gymnasium.

Robertson, a freshman who played locally at Mid-Pacific Institute, led UAA (4-0) with 23 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals. Junior wing Alli Madison posted a career-high for the second straight game with 21 points, along with a team-high five steals, and senior forward Kylie Burns pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds, helping UAA break the Great Northwest Athletic Conference single-game rebounding record with 66 boards.

Chaminade (0-2) was led by 12 points from guard Hanna Curtius as the Pacific West Conference school fell to 0-9 all-time against UAA.

After grabbing an 18-0 lead in Tuesday's 100-49 win at BYU-Hawaii, the Seawolves began Thursday's game with the first eight points and led 27-8 midway through the first half.

Junior forward KeKe Wright scored a season-high 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, sophomore guard Jessica Madison added 14 points, and freshman forward Alysha Devine chipped in seven points and seven rebounds for the Seawolves.

UAA – which has won its first four games all by at least 29 points – returns home to face a major challenge against Div. I UC Riverside when they teams meet to open the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout on Nov. 26. The Seawolves and Highlanders are set to tip off at 6 p.m. AST on Tuesday in a rematch of the 2006 Shootout final.

NOTES: The old GNAC single-game rebound record was 65 by Saint Martin's against Hawaii-Hilo, Nov. 30, 2006 ... the boards total came two shy of the school recod of 68 (Nov. 22, 1991 vs. Silver Lake) and were UAA's most ever against a fellow NCAA Div. II opponent … sophomore guard Jenna Buchanan, now recovered from a broken finger, saw her first action of the year, notching four points on 2-of-2 shooting, plus two steals and two rebounds in 15 minutes ... Thursday's game was the closest in the all-time series with Chaminade, with the former tightest game being a 91-47 UAA margin in Dec. 2011.
