LA JOLLA, Calif. – Despite a double-double by outside-hitter Katelynn Zanders, the Alaska Anchorage volleyball team fell to Cal State Dominguez Hills, 3-2 on Saturday at the UC San Diego Invitational. The Toros won, 25-22, 17-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-7.
Zanders (South HS) furnished her third double-double in four games with a game-high 20 kills and 13 digs, while Julia Mackey registered 15 kills and six digs in the loss.
The Toros (7-1) outhit and out blocked the Seawolves, .234 to .218 and 11-10.5, respectively.
In the final game of the invitational, the Seawolves took on the host UC San Diego (8-0) and fell in three sets, 25-15, 25-20 and 25-23.
The Seawolves fell to 6-6 on the season after going 1-3 in the invite.
UAA commences the GNAC home slate on Sept. 19 with Seattle Pacific at 7 p.m. ADT at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
